Seomyeon is the one stay area in Busan with no sea attached. What it has instead is Gimhae Airport at 10.1–10.4km and Busan Station at 4.4–4.8km, both short at the same time. Stay in Haeundae and the airport is around 19km away with a subway change to reach the KTX. Seomyeon is that condition turned exactly around.
So the test for this district is not the view. It is whether a single day takes you to two places on opposite sides of the city, and how many times your trip touches the airport or the railway. If the answer is often, Seomyeon wins. If your day ends at the water, it does not.
Gimhae 10km and Busan Station 4km — the premise here
These hotels are close to both the plane and the train. To Gimhae International Airport: Lotte Hotel Busan 10.1km, Arban Hotel 10.3km and Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Busan 10.4km. To Busan Station the order reverses: Solaria 4.4km, Arban 4.6km, Lotte 4.8km.
The spread is around 300m, so on those two numbers alone the choice barely matters. The real decision is whether to be in this district at all; which hotel comes down to everything else.
The subway works the same way. Seomyeon is where lines 1 and 2 cross, which is what splits Haeundae in one direction from Busan Station and Nampo in the other. Staying here means planning to use that interchange daily.
410m against 640m — where the choice is made
The walk to Seomyeon Station is 410m from Lotte, 440m from Arban and 640m from Solaria. What matters more is that the second-nearest station is not the same one. Lotte has Bujeon at 520m and Arban has Bujeon at 710m, both on line 2. Solaria has Beomnaegol at 560m, on line 1.
That makes Solaria the odd one out: its nearest station is not Seomyeon at all. Line 1 runs straight to Busan Station from its door, but reaching Haeundae means walking the 640m first. Its location score of 8.4 looks connected to that walk; Lotte scores 9.3 and Arban 9.2.
The gap compounds on arrival day with luggage and on every morning you head out early. If you mostly take taxis, or spend the day walking the shopping streets, a couple of hundred metres changes little.
How the Seomyeon hotels differ
- If the hotel is meant to fill part of the day, Lotte Hotel Busan. Indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna, a spa and an executive lounge sit in one 43-storey, 650-room building, and reviews repeatedly describe reaching the department store underground. The other two have far less inside.
- Child rules are inconsistent between properties. Lotte lists children aged 0–11 as staying free. Solaria’s description says 0–7 free while its child bedding policy says guests aged 7 and over count as adults — the two do not agree. Arban publishes no free-child age at all. With children in the party, settle occupancy on the booking screen.
- One of them requires reading the room name. At Arban, Studio Double and Private Cinema Double are labelled no window, and Superior Double and Superior Twin carry a ventilation window. If you want daylight, choose a type with no window note attached.
- For three people, or for an ondol room, Solaria. Its lineup includes a Triple Room, a Deluxe Family Twin and a Deluxe Ondol. Lotte lists a Deluxe Family Twin and a Deluxe Triple. Arban has no type named family or triple.
- For a late start, Solaria’s check-out is listed at noon. Lotte’s is 11am.
- Scores and samples — Lotte 9.0 (17,916 reviews), Arban 8.8 (18,088) and Solaria 8.6 (9,634). The first two rest on similar sample sizes and Solaria on about half, so read the scores next to the counts rather than as a ranking.
When Seomyeon is the wrong answer
If the sea is the reason for the trip, most of what Seomyeon offers stops mattering. No beach registers in the nearby data from these hotels at all, and Jagalchi Market sits 6.7–7.1km away.
- Days that begin and end on the sand point to Haeundae. Distances to the water, to the station and the child rules are set out in Haeundae beachfront hotels.
- Wanting the bridge lit up at night points to Gwangalli. Hotel Homers is 40m from the sand and Hound Hotel Gwangan 60m, with a station 350m away.
- Walking the markets and alleys points to Nampo. Stanford Hotel Busan is 150m from Jagalchi Market and Hotel Foret Premier Nampo 200m.
